Long eared bat: At the time we lived in a house built into a hill. We were aware there were bats in the area, having watched them wheel through the evening air after insects. We found they were in the attic when my husband opened the hatch & gauno fell out! The house was around 600 years old & so there were holes here & there. Many was the evning we would go upstairs, to find a bat in the bedroom.
So many in fact, my husband became very adept at catching them in his hat to safely release. (The advice is to leave a window open for them to leave but they never took that option) On this occasion, I took the opportunity to record this visitor before they were carefully released.
NOTE: Be very careful handling bats & remember they are a protected species - if you have them in your attic, learn to live with them!
