Blue tits are the highest number of our garden visitors. Unlike some other birds, they are with us year round. The young birds are certainly not shy. If the food is running low in the feeders, they will peck at the windows & then stare in at us, urging us to refill their food supply.
This little one was perched on the wall by our patio door, pecking insects off the stone. I like that the background echoes the colouring of the bird. They get their blue feathers after their first moult.
Unlike other species, there are no visible signs to tell male from female (to humans anyway).
