Due to deliver to a customer today. It's been raining a lot the last couple of days & the customer had called to say there might be a little water where they live, so we set out in the Landrover.
A kind lorry driver stopped us a mile from home, to say the Llangua bridge - our way into England - was closed. We turned around, thinking we could go via the Longtown road but found a fire truck & a large expanse of water had swallowed the junction, adjacent car park & a good distance of the road we'd planned to take...
Next was up into the hills, thinking to get across further over. Taking the turn onto the Grosmont road, we drove through the village & saw this... That settled it. We stopped to take this image & then turned around for home...
The top few inches of the bridge are just visible to the right of the central tree & pole. The other side of the road can just be seen across the expanse of water, as you scan left - as can the precariously leaning road signs!
There are some times and places where even a landrover cannot go and we found all of them. We did try every route but had to admit defeat until the water receded..
