The temperature might be a bit chilly still but the first spring colours are here!
Although it's automatic to think of daffodils being the earliest spring flower, (after snowdrops of course) the first colours here this year are pinks and purples.
The crocuses are glowing in the February sunshine, while the Lungwort, (pulmonaria) is more subtle but flowering heartily.
Lungwort is one of the earliest nectar plants and a great food source for my favourite wild bee, the hairy footed flower bee. Fabulous name for a small bee..
The red dead nettle has to hold the record for endurance though, as it's been flowering since mid December...!
